Because NiGHTS' two favorite colors are red and blue, and NiGHTS couldn't determine which one to choose for his/her color.

Why does Reala wear a Persona Mask in NiGHTS Journey of Dreams, but not in NiGHTS into Dream?

Because in NiD, he pretended to "loose" it so he wouldn't have to wear it. Wizeman found out later, and made him a new one. Wizeman wanted to show Reala he ment buisness went he made that thing for him to wear, so he forced Reala to put on a feathery collar, armor, and boots. Then to REALLY show him what for, he made Reala paint his own finger nails pink...in front of EVERYBODY.
....yeah.

*takes deep breath*

Reala and NiGHTS made a bet to see who could get the coolest duds, and NiGHTS forced child after child to sow and fix him up his new vest. After Reala was punished, NiGHTS saw that his new armor and whatnot qualified as a new outfit, so NiGHTS declared himself the winner, and decided to keep his new vest on to rub it in Reala's face.
A few nights later, Reala hired some 3rd ranks to go attack NiGHTS with spray paint, to ruin his new look, and that's how NiGHTS got the white designs on his thys and arms. The paint never came off NiGHTS' hands, so he wears the gloves to hide it up.
