Forum-addition suggestions

Just thought I'd fling up some suggestions for forums to add ( That's what the suggestion forum's for! XD ). Having thought about it for the past few days, the ones that come to mind are:

Art forum( s ).
Not sure if a seperate one for NiGHTS and non-NiGHTS stuff is neccessary, could ask people to make a thread for their NiGHTS stuff and one non-NiGHTS stuff in the same forum.

To go with that, perhaps one for literary works as well, or should that also be in an art forum? I'm trying not to fill the board with forums here XD

General discussion.
I haven't seen an off-topic forum, yet, mainly just one to do with the NiGHTS series and one to do with games in general. Nowhere for us to have a general natter about the day's activities. XD

That's all I really have off the top of my head. I'll edit in this thread if more come to me throughout the days to come.

As it stands, though, we have a nice number of forums. I don't think we need to make too many more. A general discussion will take the need out of many, since things like holidays and the like only really need a thread/sticky or two dedicated to them near their time rather than whole forums.

But yeah, hmm... thinking cap's still on, here.

I'd say anyone else with ideas for further forums should reply to this thread rather than start new ones. Keeps things nice and condensed. XD

The odd thing is that we do have an Off Topic section, this forum for some reason just does not show the main categories.

I'm trying to replicate our old setup here, but maybe it would be better to add the sections as we need them?
As in, Avenrir writes to SiLK and says "I wrote a fanfic but where do I post it?" So SiLK says "Oh, okay. Let me make a Fanfiction section for you"

Sounds planular, yeah. Though we don't want to have too many forums or the place might look confusing or cluttered to a newcomer. I still think leaving out the holiday forums and creating threads/stickys for them in general discussion, near their dates, would be better; the forums themselves didn't actually get used much, I found.

Or maybe have one forum for all holiday discussions if it's neccessary to seperate it from general discussion for whatever reason.

Will the dream diary forums be coming back? They did get used a fair bit by some users on the other board. Not so much the dream discussion one, though. You'll probably have to tell them to copy their old diary entries over there, too, before you shut the board down. XD

I'm actually not planning to shut the old board down, since it's so badly arranged that I don't even know if I can do that XD
But that is a thought, I'll probably copy and paste the threads over myself and have everyone finds theirs to add onto.
That way no dreams are lost.

You could probably just lock all the forums ( or simply delete them all, though with over 40 of them there, that'll take a while. Really need to cut down on that number when we start populating this board XD ), so people can't post further when the time to move comes.

Yeah, copy/pasting sounds like a plan. ^^

Hm, maybe a gradual thing as we ease people over here. Like delete or lock the least popular threads and work my way up from there.

Yeah, and at least maybe a fortnight's worth of fore-warning so people know it's coming. ^^

Y'know, apart from the ones mentioned in the first post and the ones we already have, I can't think of any other forum that we actually need. A general chat pretty much covers everything else. XD
